Help The Shelving Store Help Others This Holiday Season
With the weather here in Michigan turning so cold and the need for warm coats, hats, gloves and scarves being so great, The Shelving Store and Shelving, Inc. families would like to ask for your help to make this holiday season a little warmer for some of our fellow Michigan residents.
From now until December 31st we are collecting donations for the Blessed Hope Mission, which has been serving the needs of the homeless and economically challenged community in Lincoln Park and the surrounding area since 2006. Please drop off any donations that you may have to our Madison Heights location at
1444 East 11 Mile Road
We are open Mon-Fri 9a-5p or call us at 248.547.2400 if you have a donation but cannot come during these times. With your support we can make this a wonderful season of giving!
–Sincerely, Shelving, Inc. Staff, Family and Friends
About Blessed Hope Mission
Since 2006, Blessed Hope Mission has been serving the needs of the homeless and economically challenged community in Lincoln Park and the surrounding area. River Rouge, Ecorse, Melvindale, Allen Park, Taylor and Southwest Detroit are also served by the Mission. No one, regardless of their location, income level or faith background is turned away from receiving food or basic necessities.
The Mission feeds two (2) meals per day, Monday through Saturday, and one (1) dinner meal on Sunday. These are usually hot meals. Food is prepared and brought in by a variety of churches, catering leftovers and food product donations. In addition to the meals, the Mission also services several families every month with food boxes. Besides the need for nutritional food, there is a real need for emotional support, help in finding long-term resources, and encouragement to keep going. Many of our clients are mentally or emotionally challenged and have a need for interaction with others. Senior citizens comprise another small component of our clients.
The Mission does not charge for any of its services, and provides rides to doctors and so on if other transportation is not available. Counseling referrals, medical care referrals, community service opportunities and monitoring are also part of the program.
Blessed Hope Mission is supported by donations from private individuals, churches, merchants and other organizations. There is no grant or government funding for the program. It is affiliated with Blessed Hope Christian Church. The Mission is also partnering with others to open a free health care clinic.
Other than socks, hats, scarves, gloves, and sometimes shoes, the Mission cannot be a clothing recipient due to building constraints. However, we utilize two storage units for furniture, large and small appliance, computers and such merchandise that is donated. Even the Salvation Army in Wyandotte, MI has utilized us as a source of help for families burned out, and so on. During the Christmas season, the Mission distributes gifts to those who need it. Particular care is taken to provide small gifts of toiletries, gloves, socks etc. to each of the clients who dine with us. Support for these gifts come from many sources. Anything you are able to do to help, either during the holidays or year-long, would be most helpful. Thank you for your interest and support, it is truly appreciate.
