…and all through the house

Not a creature was stirring

Except you, and your spouse

The presents were stacked upon a nearby table

Still waiting to be wrapped as fast as you’re able

The children were nestled all snug in their beds

(None were asleep, they had texts to be read)

But before you can look forward to your long winter’s nap

There’s still cleaning to be done and there’s presents to wrap!

When out from the living room there arose such a clatter

You sprang from the basement to see what was the matter

Away from your tree your pets fly like a flash

It seems some fallen decorations were the source of the crash

“That’ll have to wait” you sigh, and turn round to see

The pile of gifts that still need to be placed by the tree

Video games and iPads and new toys galore

(Conveniently kept on wire shelving from The Shelving Store)

You think to yourself “this will surely take all night”

But you find yourself comforted by the idea of delight

On your kid’s faces as they spring out of bed

(at 5 AM like always, you soon come to dread)

For now, off to work! As the presents get wrapped

And under that tree they’re all neatly re-stacked

Christmas came so fast you had no time to think

(And by now you feel like you’re entitled to a drink)

Santa gets all the credit, you get all the mess

But come tomorrow evening you’ll get your time to rest

And in the meantime you can comfort yourself with the sight

Of a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Happy Holidays from everyone here at The Shelving Store, wherever you are and whatever you celebrate! (Hopefully your holiday weekend won’t be as chaotic as this one!)
